About Us
Founded in 2008, Allviant was spun out of Salt Lake City-based Medicity, Inc. Medicity’s founder and Chairman, Kipp Lassetter, MD, has long been seen as a visionary entrepreneur and a medical doctor with a keen sense about where technology could move the healthcare delivery process forward. Over its ten-year history Medicity has moved to the front of the healthcare interoperability world and leads the industry in connecting health across systems and regions.
With a desire to look at healthcare from the consumer’s perspective without distraction from Medicity’s core business, Lassetter funded the CarePass project, recruiting tech industry veteran and serial entrepreneur Lilian Myers. Her job is to head up a new company called Allviant, identify the market gap, build the CarePass product, and get it to market. For Myers, the vision represented everything required to lure her from community and academic activity back to a start-up: a change-the-world solution with positive impact on real peoples’ lives.
Myers’ experience in starting and growing companies led her to make several key decisions very early. First, base the company where there is a vast talent pool in key disciplines. Second, a close affiliation with an academic institution with strong reputation in related research, development, and programmatic resources including interns and permanent recruitment out of undergrad and graduate programs across a variety of disciplines. Finally, base the company in a location abundant with entrepreneurial zest and activity. After careful evaluation across the country, the ASU SkySong project in Scottsdale meets all the criteria and today is home to the company where she is actively building the Allviant team.
