Year-over-Year 100 Percent Attendance Increase Reflects Impact of Convenience Technology for ASU Employees

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.- April 21st 2010 – Ushering in a new era in mobile health engagement, Allviant Corporation announced today that its CarePass™ solution generated impressive results in engaging Arizona State University (ASU) employees in actively participating in various health and wellness initiatives. In less than four months of using the convenient technology, ASU reports a 100 percent increase in attendance at employee preventive screenings at ASU.

While CarePass helped to double attendance for general health screenings for blood glucose, blood pressure, full lipid panel, body composition, bone density and hearing screenings, it boosted attendance for diet and fitness programs at ASU by 85 percent – the categories of engagement most commonly attributed to changes in lifestyle that drive down the cost of care. CarePass has become the preferred means of registering for wellness classes, with nearly 2/3 of all registrations done via CarePass. CarePass also allows consumers to control their benefits and personal health service communications and transactions by aggregating and delivering information securely—via phone, e-mail, or text messaging based on individual preference. Patent-pending technology allows CarePass to uniquely combine relevant pieces of information together in those communications to consumers who then are able to take meaningful action.

According to ASU statistics, twenty-five percent more females than males are using CarePass, reflecting research showing that women make the majority of healthcare decisions for their families.

According to Kevin Salcido, ASU’s chief human resources officer, “Not only are we thrilled that our preventive health programs have been so heavily attended due to CarePass, but we’re pleased to be able to offer our employees a benefit that is low cost, but delivers high value. That’s especially important during these tough economic times when employees are often asked to sacrifice. Instead, with CarePass, they’ve been able to gain a great benefit. Giving our employees a tool like CarePass helps them take positive proactive health action. Plus, it is easy to use, is customized to their preferences and provides just the right number of reminders. It has significantly enhanced our ability to communicate health and wellness information, and as a result, we will expand use of CarePass to other communication of benefits and human resources information.”

“In only four months, with little promotion and no incentives, 21% of ASU Tempe campus employees have signed up to use our technology-enabled service – a testament to the powerful capabilities we put in the hands of CarePass users,” said Lilian Myers, Allviant’s CEO. “As the largest university in the country, ASU leads the way in demonstrating how large employers can empower a workforce to take charge of their own health management through innovations like CarePass. Their dramatic results prove that implementing next generation employee engagement tools doesn’t have to take months or years and that doing it well stimulates engagement and uptake of employer-sponsored prevention and wellness programs, while helping employees quickly and easily manage their own health and benefits world. We couldn’t be more pleased by the confidence and trust ASU has placed in us to empower their employees with the information they need, where and when they need it. We look forward to expanding upon the program’s success.”

The Center’s mission is to improve ethical awareness and decision-making across the community, state and nation, starting with at the university campus.

“We are delighted to welcome Lilian to the board,” said Peter A. French, Ph.D., the Center’s Director. “Her 20-plus years of business perspective – particularly as it relates to consumers of healthcare – will prove invaluable in our continuing effort to take on the hard ethical issues of the day and help make them relevant to decision-making for individuals, organizations and governing bodies now and in the future. Her counsel and expertise will be crucial to the success of many of the projects, especially those related to healthcare issues, on which the Center and its Lincoln Professors are and will be engaged.”

“I am honored to serve on the board and look forward to working with the Center’s directors, professors and other board members to advance the importance of social responsibility, moral leadership and values in everyday life,” said Myers. “The recent ethical and fiduciary lapses by the country’s leading financial institutions underscore the critical role of critical and sound thinking in instilling integrity, character and sense of morality in industry and innovation.”

Before joining Allviant, she was associate director of the University of Central Florida Venture Lab , a leading economic development force in Central Florida for moving local innovations from idea to operations, funding and into the market.

She served as vice president of marketing and corporate development at Channel Intelligence, an online retail technology vendor. In 1999, Myers co-founded eGlobal Strategies, where she worked with numerous start-ups and large companies to identify market opportunities, develop go-to-market strategies and start new businesses.

Myers co-founded Avio, which delivered one of the first integrated practice information systems for large physician groups to include an electronic medical record technology. She led startup and growth of products, marketing, sales and account management, and was instrumental in raising capital from both strategic and venture sources.

About The Lincoln Center for Applied Ethics

CarePass Leverages Payers’ & Employers’ Investment in Promoting Wellness by Engaging Employees in Managing Their Healthcare

WASHINGTON — February 4, 2010 — Dossia Chairman Mike Critelli, a recognized innovator in health benefits and workforce wellness, introduced Allviant Corporation’s CarePass™ technology at the Center for Health Value Innovation (CHVI) event on February 2 in Washington, D.C.

Critelli touted CarePass’ ability to deliver a new level of convenience that breaks down the barriers consumers face in trying to manage their healthcare. CarePass enables consumers to control their personal health service communications and transactions by aggregating and delivering context-relevant information securely — via phone, e-mail or text messaging — depending on their preference. Additionally, CarePass connects a network of service providers such as health savings vendors, portals, personal health records (PHRs), content sites, nurse call services, physicians and dentists. With the click of a button, CarePass members can schedule and confirm appointments, receive alerts or prescription reminders and verify deductibles or HSA balances.

“CarePass really helps organizations realize the full value of the benefits they work so hard to deliver to their employees and their families because it offers a practical, real-world method of understanding and managing those benefits,” states Critelli.

According to Lilian Myers, CEO of Allviant, “Consumer health engagement is the newest and biggest challenge. American companies spent an average of $329 per employee on cash incentives to drive engagement in 2008 — up from $192 the year prior. Human behavior dictates that lasting engagement is a result of sense of control and relevance. CarePass was specifically designed to answer those issues.”

CarePass is currently being used at Arizona State University (ASU) to manage 175 wellness programs and events. The two-way CarePass communication technology allows participants to select the type of health and wellness information they want to receive, such as pregnancy- or asthma-related information, smoking cessation or women’s health. In a four-month period with only two email campaigns, ASU achieved a 17.4% CarePass adoption rate of the benefits eligible employees on the main campus. Those enrolled are receiving notifications for ASU Employee Wellness events and programs.

“This is an impressive adoption rate considering that ASU does not provide incentives for wellness programs or for enrollment in CarePass. This means that 17% enrolled because of a genuine interest in having both the control (CarePass) and the information,” explains Myers.

Americans over 15 years of age spend 847 million hours each year waiting for medical services.* This lost productivity can be avoided with CarePass, which helps connect consumers and their physicians’ office in real time through a virtual waiting room.

The CarePass Virtual Waiting Room is being used at ASU student clinics today. This fall it was used to notify students of flu and H1N1 vaccine availability, appointment reminders, prevention alerts and mobile appointment check-in. This eliminated staff time typically required on the phone to confirm appointments and decreased no-shows.

“Consumers have become accustomed to this level of technology-enabled convenience in banking — why shouldn’t they have it for healthcare?” states Myers. “By delivering health information to busy consumers on the go, individuals gain unprecedented control over their health and wellness ecosystem. CarePass just makes sense for real people today.”

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — January 12, 2010 — With the goal of helping consumers become more proactive about managing their healthcare, Allviant Corporation announced today that its revolutionary CarePass technology is now available to Dossia’s Consortium members.

CarePass enables consumers to control their personal health service communications and transactions by aggregating and delivering context-relevant information securely — via phone, e-mail, or text messaging — depending on their preference. Additionally, CarePass connects a network of service providers such as health savings vendors, portals, personal health records (PHRs), content sites, nurse call services, vision, dental, and physicians.

According to Lilian Myers, CEO and co-founder of Allviant, “CarePass changes the rules of engagement in healthcare — finally, besieged consumers can benefit from technology-enabled control over their personal healthcare ecosystem.”

Myers continues, “Users will be notified of events that impact their Dossia Personal Health Record and will be able to immediately act on health record updates that require review or approval — without logging into the web site. In short, we’re going to help consumers stay on top of their health management by giving them the tools to understand and resolve complex issues.”

The Dossia Personal Health Record and CarePass health ecosystem model offer valuable synergies. For example, an employee might receive a text message that their employer is offering a health fair — and a reply option allows the fair to be automatically added to the employees calendar. A related CarePass prompt would remind them that an annual cholesterol test is overdue based on their age and gender, and that their specific benefits plan covers the charge. With a one click response, they can schedule the screening appointment.

“By making Dossia’s health management tools more accessible to busy employees and their families, the combined technology will eliminate obstacles that make it hard for people to move from bystanders to active participants in their care,” said Steve Munini, Dossia COO. “As a result, members of the Dossia network who take advantage of this new offering will be better able to arm their employees with tools to help them understand their healthcare choices, weigh cost and benefits, and make informed decisions.”

About Dossia

Dossia is a non-profit organization consisting of several Fortune 500 companies united by a common vision: to empower their employees to make smarter, more informed decisions about their healthcare and thus bring about consumer-driven change in the healthcare system. Through Dossia, these companies leverage their combined influence to break down barriers to health information. The Dossia Founders group includes AT&T, Applied Materials, BP America, Cardinal Health, Intel, Pitney Bowes, Abraxis BioScience, Vanguard Health Systems, sanofi-aventis, and Walmart.
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — October 12th, 2009 — Allviant Corporation today announced the launch of its CarePass™ pilot program with Arizona State University to add another tool to the university's health and wellness communications and services while empowering its employees and students with tools to manage their healthcare relationships. Among the first uses of CarePass at ASU will be the notification and scheduling of flu and H1N1 vaccines, as well as providing appointment reminders, wellness alerts and mobile appointment check-in.

“We have many tools available to communicate to our students, faculty and staff regarding flu and H1N1 vaccines,” said Dr. Allan Markus, Director of ASU Campus Health Services. “We're happy to leverage the technology of an ASU partner company that began at ASU SkySong to convey vaccine availability and health information to the university population during flu season, especially this year when we're encouraging seasonal and H1N1 vaccines.”

ASU employees and students can register — free of charge — to receive CarePass messages via text message or email at https://www.carepass.com/asu. The two-way communications technology allows ASU employees and students to indicate what types of notification they prefer. An example might be notifications relevant for high-risk groups including those who are pregnant, diabetic, immune-suppressed or suffer from a chronic heart, kidney or lung conditions such as asthma. Additionally, the employees and students can select their preferred channel of communication.

“ASU welcomes Allviant's CarePass technology to provide employees and students with another communication option,” added Markus. “Through CarePass' interactive email, text messages and automated phone calls, we believe it can help us more effectively manage vaccine distribution for ASU students, faculty and staff.”

“People do everything nowadays on their mobile phone — email, online banking, airline check-ins, etc.,” said Jordan Meyerowitz, a co-founder and the product director at Allviant. “Now ASU employees and students can enjoy the same access, convenience and control of their healthcare relationships through CarePass technology-enabled services. One way that we are making that happen is for students that are seen at ASU's Campus Health Services. Today, instead of spending time in a waiting room, students can go back to class or grab a coffee until a CarePass text message alerts them that it's time to be seen. For ASU employees, it will include the ability to opt-in to health and wellness program information and register for those programs right from their mobile devices.”

Meyerowitz added, “We think it's time for innovative technologies to address the simple problems of access and convenience that are too often barriers to consumer engagement with healthcare. That's what we designed CarePass to do.”

General availability for CarePass beyond ASU is planned for late 2009, which will include expanded management capabilities for administrative healthcare data, transactions and communications though a personally-defined set of communication mediums including voice, text, and email. For more information, visit http://www.allviant.com.

San Francisco, CA. — October 5th, 2009 — Technology innovator Allviant, Corp. announced today that Jared Crapo, a company co-founder, is scheduled to present at this week's Health 2.0 Conference in San Francisco. Selected as one of only ten companies to be on stage during the historically standing-room-only “Launch” session on October 7th, Allviant will introduce its CarePass technology, the first un-tethered, smart technology that provides an integrated healthcare consumer experience by putting the consumer in the center, and in charge, of their own service relationship universe.

In 2007, Consumer Reports examined top consumer healthcare complaints and discovered that the key issues were related to customer service as opposed to care. The chief criticisms included wait times, appointment availability, test result notification and phone response. To fulfill that customer experience gap, Allviant developed its Service Relationship Management (SRM) platform to put people in control of their healthcare relationships by connecting and sensibly integrating multiple relationships for relevant, on-the-fly information and action.

CarePass, the first service to be introduced on Allviant's SRM platform, includes capabilities such as remote appointment check-in, preventive reminders like flu / H1N1 vaccinations, health savings account and benefit status, corporate wellness program prompts and registration, plus an array of other information. The result is unification of unrelated communications and transactions from numerous service providers and ongoing encouragement for consumers to take appropriate actions — all according to a consumer's unique communications preferences.

The patent-pending, cloud-hosted CarePass technology benefits consumers by delivering two-way information and actions through whatever channels or combinations they wish — phone, email, and text messaging — without reliance on a destination website or application. Allviant's CarePass technology also enables employers, payors and other service providers to better target and communicate with their populations while protecting, and enhancing, their brand.

“Consumers have come to expect simple, convenient ways of managing so many things in their lives. Healthcare just hasn't gotten there yet. More and more, the responsibility of healthcare – both in cost and in action – is being driven down to the consumer, yet there just haven't been the tools available to make the 'system' as simple and understandable as modern-day financial management,” said Crapo. “Imagine how many more people would proactively manage their healthcare if it was quick, easy and convenient. That truly is the key to health.”

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — September 9, 2009 — Allviant, Inc., today announced the launch of its Social Media Philanthropy initiative to assist local and national non-profits and communities to best leverage the power of social media in their outreach to individuals, communities, donors and partners.

“One of Allviant's core values is a commitment to improving people's quality of life and we have a special place in our hearts for children and teens,” said Lilian Myers, Allviant's chief executive. “We understand that by leveraging technology to ease communications, especially through social networking sites like Twitter and Facebook, we can engage the greater community in a whole new way. This concept aligns with the vision for our CarePass™ technology as well, which allows consumers to quickly and easily manage the complexities of healthcare through mobile and other popular communication mediums.”

The first non-profit organization selected to participate in this innovative social media program is the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale (BGCGS). Allviant's social media mentorship of the organization has already resulted in an established Twitter presence and Facebook fan page for the local Club. BGCGS will leverage their new social media knowledge to extend their marketing communications to popular social networking platforms, driving increased response rates, volunteer participation and donations in a cost-effective manner.

“We are grateful to community leaders like Allviant that freely share their resources and expertise, enabling us to further expand the developmental programs for our youth in the community,” said Steve Davidson, president/CEO of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale. “Social media has become a vital communication tool for businesses and individuals, and we want to be able to connect to people on a local and global level.”

Allviant complements their online philanthropy with brick and mortar events such as the recent clothing and housewares drive held at Scottsdale-based ASU SkySong. All donations from the charity drive were delivered to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale Thrift Shop, whose sales proceeds support youth programs at the Club.

Added Myers, “Convenience in communication mediums and tools is critical to eliciting participation in any program — whether it's under a profit or non-profit organization. Individuals are busier than ever, so you need to make it easy for them to stay informed and get involved. We are honored to contribute our time and efforts to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale and we look forward to expanding their social media impact throughout the year.”

About the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale

Since 1954, Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale has provided more than 100,000 Northeast Valley youth with a positive, supervised environment to explore the power of their potential.
